Spotlight on Design – Timeless Traditional in Tomball Part 1

Updated: May 24, 2020

We are excited to bring back our series, “Spotlight on Design”, with all new projects so you can see what our talented designers have been up to!

First up is an exquisite, traditional home in Tomball TX, designed by Erika Barczak!

This week we will focus on the kitchen and dining areas of the home. In her own words, Erika will describe the design process!

“This beautiful home in Tomball, TX displays the amazing possibilities in rich traditional design combining elegance with comfort, function with exquisite finishes, and technology with old-world inspiration. Every space was first planned for its function and then the visual details were layered in, each thought out with precision and coordination to the overall feel of the home.”

“As you enter the home, the light from the grand crystal chandelier sparkles as it hits the painted dome with metallic bronze stencil detailing creating an amazing wow feeling as one enters this amazing home full of rich details. Stained and finished walnut wood floors span the first floor of this house with beautiful knots characteristic of the wood.”

“The large kitchen was designed to give the cook plenty of room to create her delicious from-scratch recipes while also entertaining her children and grandchildren. Cabinet internals – such as knife drawers, mixer station, and spice pull-outs were designed with her work pattern in mind. Appliances were placed to give her various working zones – baking here, washing there, and prepping there, coffee in the corner. The cabinetry was also designed to hide the appliances to give the kitchen a seamless elegant look.”

“A light glaze on the walls and ceiling, chandeliers on dimmers, and custom window treatments soften the overall look of the space.”

“The bronze medallion over the cooktop highlights the custom scrollwork of the stained wood vent hood. To add a custom touch to the remainder of the backsplash, the designer used a mix of beveled travertine, a marble mosaic, and bronze beaded liner. Custom copper farm-front sink was designed to also highlight the scrollwork of the medallion and vent hood.”

“Even though the breakfast area is part of the kitchen as a whole, the designer and client wanted to find ways to make it special on its own accord. The stenciled ceiling design encircling the chandelier, the custom draperies following the curvature of the wall of windows, and a beautiful china hutch finished in a distressed red-barn feel make this corner of the kitchen completely unique.”

“The client’s growing family steered the size of the space; they wanted to be able to entertain their entire family in this area for family meals and parties.”

“This client was not afraid of color, the ceiling was glazed in a rich red color that can be found throughout the entire home. Silk draperies in deep red, gold, and bronze frame each window.”

“Accent Cabinets along worked alongside the designer and client to create a large, beautiful china cabinet to house the client’s china and silver collection. The mirror-backed cabinet reflects the large exquisite crystal and alabaster chandelier. Theodore Alexander furniture was the perfect choice for this elegant space with exquisitely carved wood frames and veneer design.”

Next week we will continue our tour of this extraordinary home!
