Spotlight on Design – High Fashion Home in The Woodlands, Part 1

Updated: May 24, 2020

We are excited to continue our series, ‘Spotlight on Design’, with more new projects so you can see what our talented designers have been up to! This month we will focus on a stunning and sophisticated home remodel in The Woodlands, TX, designed by Erika Barczak and remodeled by Keechi Creek Builders! This gorgeous ‘high fashion’ remodel transformed the home, making it current and integrating the fantastic views of the outdoors inward! In her own words, Erika will describe the design process!

“Simple changes to the kitchen brought the space out of the 90s and into a fresh space perfect for meal prep and entertaining. New cabinet doors revitalized the space and fresh paint allowed the beautiful granite counters and backsplash to really pop. Fun accessories and the amazing “mechanically elegant” bar stools designed by Nick Alain add some color and funk to the space.”

Kitchen

“Almost every room in the house offers stunning views of the outdoor living space and golf course. The dining room is subtly elegant creating an intimate dining space but also a space to enjoy looking outdoors. The custom chairs have a curved back design to contrast with the linear dining table. The host and hostess chairs add texture and Texas chic with their velvet alligator skin fabric. Permanently set, the tableware sparkles under the crystal chandelier revitalized by a talented faux finisher.”

Dining Room

“Various gray tones complement the soft purple and blue tones throughout this cozy family room. Clean-lined furniture is mixed with metallic tones in the accent tables, art, lamps, and accessories. Overscaled art not only adds color and interest but also help fill up the large wall space. The purple swivel chairs can easily transform this from a TV lounge to a conversational area.”

Great Room

“Vibrant pink and teal hues are grounded by comfy charcoal as everything comes together to make the perfect teenage girl’s lounge space. Light and airy, this room is perfect for injecting bright colors. Pink swivel chairs and an iridescent white cocktail ottoman look great on the contrasting teal rug. Colorful abstract art and fantastic accessories give the space some youthful funk.”

Kid’s Lounge

“The original powder was more like a mancave – dark and reminiscent of a hunting lodge. With crystal-studded peacock feather wallpaper, a funky mirror, an elegant faucet and sparkly sink, the new space is the perfect place to powder your nose. The existing cabinet was painted black with metallic highlights and also ties in black accents in the flooring.”

Powder

“This cozy ready space dramatically changed when the cabinetry was stained dark ebony from a light beech color. It instantly became the perfect spot to curl up and read a book with a beautiful view to the outside. A cowhide rug under some soft velvet chairs mixed with the warm dark walls create the perfect sanctuary.”
