The Wonderful World of Tile

The Wonderful World of Tile

In the past few years, tile has undergone an exciting evolution due to new manufacturing techniques combined with a push for creative and exciting tile designs. New tile is being produced today that was unthinkable even a couple of decades ago.

Porcelain tiles are now available in larger formats and can mimic other materials such as marble and wood with amazing precision! Glass tile manufacturers are experimenting with new shapes and textures to make this durable and moisture blocking product even more readily specified.  Water jet technology has been a game changer in the tile industry.  Today, manufacturers can create what seems like endless, intricate patterns in natural stone, glass, porcelain and metal.

As designers, we are ecstatic to have a customizable product in endless color combinations and styles right at our fingertips! We have a room in our studio filled with gorgeous tiles to get inspired by!

We also take trips to the various tile showrooms in Houston and bring back the latest and greatest for our client’s projects.

While tile has traditionally been used in bathrooms and kitchens, today we find tile almost anywhere you can imagine it including; hallways, dining rooms and outdoor kitchens. In this sneak peak photo, tile is being used in a hallway niche as an enhancement to a beautiful piece of art that will go on top.

At any given moment in the design studio, there is always a designer working on putting together a fantastic, one of a kind, custom tile look for their client.

This combination of cool green and blue glass tile with patterned slate makes for a gorgeous bathroom design.

It is amazing how the porcelain tile in this bathroom remodel looks like rings of wood.

Tile can be used to create the look of a “rug” to add visual interest to the room and break up a large floor space.  On the wall, tile can be designed in an artistic way to make it a stunning focal point.
