Spotlight on Design - Timeless Traditional in Tomball Part 2

In this week's blog we will continue our tour of the elegant, traditional home in Tomball, TX, designed by one of our fabulous designers, Erika Barczak! This week we will focus on the living areas of the home and the magnificent master suite. In her own words, Erika will describe the design process!

"Comfortable elegance was the inspiration for this great room as it would be one of the most used rooms in the house. It had to be easy to maintain, look great all the time, but also be so comfortable and warm to relax in. Custom Century sofas mirror each other with a Nanotex’d fabric (easily cleaned – water beads up on surface) with brown leather frames. His and her chairs and ottomans from Harden face the TV and were selected after sitting in hundreds of options."

"The built-ins were designed by Accent cabinets to look more like pieces of furniture but also to coordinate with the existing cabinetry throughout the home. They hide the TV components while also displaying some of the couple’s tokens from years of travel. The wood trusses were added after seeing photos of beautiful great rooms on Houzz. The trusses accentuate the cathedral ceiling and add an element of rich stained wood to the space."

"The formal living is the one room without any of the deep red color you’ll see throughout the remainder of the home. This room became a rich mix of black and gold, soft textures with exquisite damask patterns, and mixes of gold and bronze metals."

"Sweeping silk-like draperies stretch across the curvature of the wall of windows framing the outdoor living space and pool. The arched cabinets with seeded glass doors were specially designed for the niches on either side of the fireplace."

"Cozy, rich, elegant and relaxing were the descriptive words the client used to describe what she wanted for her master bedroom."

"The archway encompassing the master bedroom sitting area in front of the fireplace was trimmed in stained wood to frame the cozy reading nook out looking the beautiful landscape. The travertine tile around the fireplace is printed with a scroll-like pattern to look like old pieces of stone pulled from ancient homes while the iron and glass screen was specially made to fit over the fireplace."

"In the original design of the home, the master bathroom had no focal point. The designer and builder brainstormed the new design which created a perfect wow factor as you entered the space. Centering the bathtub with the bathroom entrance established a focal wall behind the tub and also created a large private shower that curved behind the tub.Various colors of warm-toned travertine and marble deco tiles were used to create a tile rug on the floor in front of the tub, and also wrap the focal wall behind the tub."

"Dark Emperador marble was the perfect elegant counter top material for this stunning space.Cabinet towers on the sides of each vanity not only add much needed storage but also help create a framed look for each vanity as an arched piece connects each tower."

"The importance of organization throughout the home is the most evident in her master closet. The designer, client, and cabinet designer worked hand-in-hand to create a space that was beautiful but also full of the best storage for clothing, purses, shoes, and accessories."

"Pull-down clothing rods are perfect for closets with tall ceilings to store out-of-season clothing. Jewelry drawers lined with felt, slanted shoe shelves, a storage bench, and so many more fine details make this a superbly functioning space."

"Powder bathrooms are the perfect spaces to go a little over-the-top, add color, adornments, and details. Rich reds are apparent throughout much of the home and the designer and client decided to use the deep color to contrast beautifully with the split-face onyx stone used on the vanity wall."

"A key-hole mirror adds an interesting shape while flanked with iron sconces making the space feel cozy no matter what time of day. Accent Cabinets custom designed the vanity to resemble an old carved wood dresser that had been retrofitted for the space. The bronze sink is detailed with a beautiful floral design as a trough faucet sits askew to the right."
