During the now called “Great Recession” of 2007-2009, a growing trend underwent a rapid boom! The number of multiple generations of families living under one roof in America grew a stunning 10.5% in those two years alone.
Surprisingly, even in the Post-Recession market, the movement is still expanding! According to AARP.com 32% of adult children in America are expected to eventually live with their parents again. Some home builders are even starting to offer homes with TWO master suites!
One of our Senior Designers has embraced the now social norm.
After purchasing a fairly large house with her daughter and son-in-law and all the kids, the family moved in together and immediately started remodeling the home to fit their unique needs.
The first phase of the renovations recently wrapped up, and this full house is already looking amazing!
The home’s second master suite is perfect for any young couple, who just need a get away from the kids.
The kitchen is now fit for multiple cooks of all ages!
And the upstairs media area is perfect for boys of all ages, with a hand painted mural that captures the fun of going to the drive-in movies!
So before you gawk at the prospect of moving back in with Mom, remember, it might not be such a bad thing!
