How to Pick and Place a Rug - Part 2

How to Pick and Place a Rug - Part 2

Last week we told you a few of our favorite tips and tricks on how to pick and place your rug! This week concludes our miniseries and wraps up our expert advice.

Color and Patterns! – Rugs are meant to offer a soft contrast to hard floors as well as enhance and frame your furniture arrangement. To choose the perfect color and pattern for you, think about what is going on top of your rug. If your sofa, chairs, and pillows are bright, vibrant, and full of color you might want to go with a more neutral rug.

If your items are more on the neutral side, a brightly colored, patterned rug might be just the pop you need to liven up your space.

Texture, Texture, Texture – There are so many options, too many options in fact when it comes to rug texture choices. There is low pile, shag, woven, even rugs made out of basically straw. How to choose? We suggest that you consider where your rug is going.

For example, a straw or jute rug while it looks great, it can be rough and itchy. Not a good choice for a bedroom. I mean who wants to wake up and walk something that will poke their feet?!

Another example is a shag rug. They are great looking and are really making a style comeback. However, placing a shag rug in a family room that is used by everyone might not be the best idea. No one wants to vacuum the kid’s cheese puffs out of a rug, but especially not a shag rug!

If the thought of choosing your own rug seems a little daunting, our expert designers are up to the challenge! With hundreds of rugs to choose from we can find the perfect rug for you!
